The Ngari Institute is the educational society dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan Buddhist
culture in the Himalayan region, and it was founded by the Ladakh alumni of Sera Jey Monastery
(South India). It was the aim of first batch of Sera Jey students in 1979 to serve the people of Ladakh
and to take responsible steps toward the preservation of Tibetan Buddhism in Ladakh.
